The 401(k) Plan Reimagined.
Our cost-efficient plan limits employer liability while empowering employees with retirement tools and multiple investment solutions; low-cost index & target date funds or have Quartz's investment team actively manage investments in a custom portfolios.
We provide turn-key retirement plans that are tailored to an employer's unique needs. Utilizing a rigorous and repeatable due diligence process we select a diversified and cost effective mutual fund lineup from a pool of over 10,000. We don’t just select mutual funds, we specialize in actively managing investments. Quartz's investment team can help free employees from the burden of selecting and monitoring mutual funds by managing it on their behalf. Our retirement plan technology platform is intuitive, delivering data and control 24/7.
Over the past few years the Department of Labor ("DOL") has increased fines for compliance breaches. As an ERISA 3(38) fiduciary we help mitigate employer liability, by closely monitoring DOL regulations and protecting employers at no additional cost from the liability of selecting and monitoring the investment lineup. If a plan advisor is not a 3(38) fiduciary, the employer assumes all liability and the plan advisor may not be legally required to act in the plans best interest. Less than 20% of the 401k plans surveyed by Fidelity in 2015 had protection.
It's no secret that plan costs reduce the benefits available to employees and have a significant impact on saving for retirement. Excessive plan costs are often hard to identify; imbedded within a plans mutual funds expense ratio, which are deducted daily from their share price. We work hard to monitor costs, ensuring every dollar is allocated efficiently and with one goal in mind, an optimal retirement outcome. If your current provider is on this list, we may be able to greatly reduce your plans fees that absorb contributions and erode investment returns!
Acting In Your Best Interest
401k Consultant or Sales Person?
Many financial professionals masquerade as a part-time "401k advisor" while selling a myriad of other financial products and insurance to retail clients. Surprisingly very few specialize in 401k's, have a legal obligation to act in a plans best interest or assume liability for selecting and monitoring a retirement plans mutual fund lineup for performance, fees and suitability. Leaving many employers asking, "What is the plans financial professional being paid for?" Likely, not for 401k consulting advice but rather they are being paid by a retirement plan provider to recommend and sell their retirement plan product.
Fortunately there are firms like Quartz Partners. As 1 of 4 CEFEX certified SEC registered investment advisers in New York and as a fiduciary we are legally required to act in our clients best interest. Quartz Partners assumes the liability ensuring plan fees are fair and for selecting and monitoring a retirement plans mutual fund lineup.
Why Fees Matter
Small Fees. Big Effect.
Whether expenses are paid directly by the employer or are hidden in the plans mutual fund expense ratio, employers should closely monitor their 408(b)(2) plan fee disclosures.
Reducing plan investment and administrative fees by as little as 0.50% per year can increase retirement savings by $428,249 over the course of an employee's career! At a 5% distribution rate an employee's retirement income can be increased by over $20,000 each year!
This illustration assumes a yearly contribution of $15,000 with gross annualized investment performance of 8% and a retirement income annual withdrawal rate of 5%.
